AVOIDENCE

Avoidance is a survival strategy that can serve to protect as well as isolate at the same time. With this piece the work shows several layers that help to protect through the action of evading. It is mostly concealed, only briefly revealing a partly shiny, organic form that sits back into the canvas. The focus of the veiled and delicately wrapped form is being used to create a sense of preciousness. This preciousness however, paired with so many added layers causes a sense separation with the viewer's eye, creating a needed sense of avoidance in order to protect.
