SCULPTURE WORKS IN A SERIES

With my work, I focus on a personal, individual glimpse of the universal, human condition. Through my sculptures, this exploration visually relies on referencing geological metaphors as well as my immediate emotional and physical surroundings. These works become self-portraits each representing a specific experience or dilemma in my life that yearns for balance.

In effect, this balancing act has caused me to pair my thoughts through an intentional and intuitive, conceptual push and pull. Within this framework the pieces turn out to be explorations in contradictions; architectural versus geological, destroying versus repairing, protected versus exposed. These working contradictions or dichotomies help me to edit the work emotionally and physically until I am left with a series of visual thoughts that have balanced themselves out.
