SOLACE
Using Solace as a survival strategy examines how surviving to the point of briefly disappearing can contradict the strategy as a whole. Each of the large, plaster-coated cubes with deep, concave centers create this almost false sense of security. Sitting in a line along the floor, the intimate, interior spaces are visually safe, holding your attention in a comfortable yet isolating way. The thick, white walls of plaster continue to build on the feeling of protection, reinforcing the sense of safety and yet ironically raising the opposing sense of isolationism at the same time.
